What Is Estate Planning?
What is estate planning?
Estate planning is the process for deciding how to handle personal and financial matters. An estate plan consists of documents that say what you want to happen to your property and assets. It may also include documents describing what kind of medical care you want if you can no longer speak for yourself.
These documents often include a Will, a Trust and an Advance Health Care Directive, or “Living Will.” Each of these documents is explained in greater detail in the next few pages.
The estate planning process often involves the advice and counsel of several professionals including an estate planning lawyer, a tax professional, a financial planner and a life insurance advisor. These professionals work together to structure an arrangement that meets your objectives.
